telesto™ is a Calypso solution in the field "Advanced Document and Reporting Engineering". It is based on the cross-system solution intellixx enterprise reporting framework and integrated into the Calypso system.

The wide spread solutions and products like MS-Access, SQR, and "Crystal Reports" work on relational databases and encapsulate data , processing (logic) and formats. This leads to the following drawbacks:

• Creating documents, reports, or correspondence is encapsulated making modifications and extension difficult, programming skill is required.
• Each favored format must be either supported by the commercial product or has to be implemented separately.
• Not all requirements with respect to formatting can be met.
• Subsequent modifications of reports are, depending on the format, difficult or even impossible.
  

 telesto has the following advantages for Calypso:

• Separation of data and format. Change the format by simply exchanging the document template.
• By separating data and format the data can be given in reports/correspondence and at the same time in technical formats for further processing in downstream systems.
• Highest typographical requirements can be met. Vector graphics, graphics/images/logos, and mathematical formulae can be displayed in high quality.   
• telesto can be run in online- or batch-mode.
• telesto is stable, fast, and capable of large sized documents.
• All current formats are supported.
• The data can be made available in such a format that in a special editor further manipulations are easily possible.
